Macclesfield Garden Festival 2019 Success

Macclesfield Garden Festival 2019 was a great success, with all five high schools in Macclesfield taking part and nine primary schools designed mini gardens. The theme for this year’s festival was Geography & Travel.

Two teams of garden designers built gardens, ‘Judges favourite’ went to Laurel Goss & Denise Male for their Silk Road garden, with Tom Saunders from Skylark design closely following. The in-house MGF team created a Zen Garden as an outside training area for martial arts training. Along with the garden designs, NAFAS managed the Floral Design Marquee with some amazingly talented designs were entered by NAFAS association clubs and local professional floral designers.

Martial arts displays occurred throughout the day with a performance by Tytherington School Mandarin Society and music throughout the weekend.

Wonderful comments were received from headteachers and Professor John Hyatt who judged the Town Hall art installations, through to the public who were unanimously positive. Even the lead singer of The Foals, an indie rock band, joined the event.

Macclesfield Garden Festival will return in 2021 and the theme will be ‘ENERGY’, it will be encouraging schools and even universities to take part in the creation of ‘Eco-machines’.
