British Association of Landscape Industries issues Coronavirus statement

With COVID-19 (coronavirus) now classed by the World Health Organisation as a global pandemic, and as a result of the UK Government’s recently published guidance for businesses and individuals to help suppress the spread of infection, the management team at the British Association of Landscape Industries has now implemented its Business Continuity Plan to ensure we maintain the highest level of service to our members and industry stakeholders.

The Plan sees the introduction of several temporary measures that are designed to minimise disruption in the delivery of core services:

  • Internally, all meetings at Landscape House have been cancelled with immediate effect until further notice. This includes external use of the meeting room.
  • Externally, BALI employees will no longer be conducting any face-to-face meetings and BALI’s attendance at shows and exhibitions are cancelled with immediate effect until further notice. All BALI regional events have also been postponed or cancelled to help minimise the spread.

N.B Both internal and external policies will be reviewed on the 1 May 2020.

At Landscape House, hygiene standards have been raised and all employees will now be working from home starting Wednesday 18 March, with workstations set up to ensure continuity of service. This measure has been introduced following the latest Government guidelines that asked employers who can offer remote working to do so where possible. BALI has further invested in virtual conference and webinar facilities to continue to host meetings and stage online events for members. The BALI Board meeting, scheduled for Wednesday 18 March 2020, is also being conducted online for the first time in BALI’s history, with directors continuing to govern the Association and help drive it forward despite the unprecedented and adverse conditions.

The team at BALI Landscape House remain available to contact via the main line phone number +44(0)24 7669 0333 and the relevant extensions, as well as email. Office hours are Monday-Friday 8.30am – 5pm. For the latest news, events and technical articles visit bali.org.uk or for up-to-date health guidance on COVID-19 in the UK visit nhs.uk/coronavirus.
